Learn To Lead

Learn To Lead is a six-week training to help those interested in joining a local nonprofit organization’s Board of Directors but unsure where or how to start put their passion into practice. Please fill out the form below to sign up. Space is limited, and priority will be given to those who can commit to attending all six sessions.

Learn To Lead is made possible thanks to a grant from the Volunteer Generation Fund in partnership with AmeriCorps and Serve Wisconsin.

August 7
Understanding Community Needs
We’ll walk you through our region’s top needs. Local nonprofits will be on hand to talk about some of the unique challenges they face, as well as their solutions.

August 14
Nonprofit Boards 101
Learn board basics and how board meetings help put an organization’s mission into motion. Local nonprofit executives will discuss procedures, bylaws, and more.

August 21
Money Matters
Learn the ins and outs of nonprofit financials so you’ll be prepared to ask the right questions, and participate with confidence when talking dollars and cents.

September 4
Board AMA (Ask Me Anything)
This is your opportunity to ask questions of folks currently serving on local nonprofit boards. Headshot photos will be taken by a professional photographer.

September 11
Channeling Your Strengths
After taking the assessment on your own, a Certified Strengths Coach will help you understand and leverage your top five strengths, on a board and beyond.

September 18
Meet Your Match
Our final session features nonprofit “speed dating” – let us introduce you to our nonprofit friends, one of which you’re sure to love. We’ll celebrate with cake!
